World Cup Cast 2014 #3

Posted in World Cup 2014 by slightlyoffthepoint on June 17th, 2014

Tonight, Tonight, Tonight (as Genesis once opined) we have a bumper spectacular for you...

Eng v Ita and Gary Lineker wants you to send him pictures of your behind (this might not be strictly accurate)

Switz v Ecu and Brian Kerr channels Yoda while mangling the names of several players

Fra v Hon and the BBC's Calamity Jonathan (Pearce) the podcaster's gold card for some grade-a buffoonery comes through in spectacular fashion.  I knew he wouldn't disappoint but feel he may have done his brain an injury here.  This is possibly the most wrong anyone could ever have been.  Truly inspiring.

There's also the usual rubbish too.

World Cup Cast 2014 #2

Posted in World Cup 2014 by slightlyoffthepoint on June 15th, 2014

Brazil, football, rain lots of it.  So much so that we were told about it.  Endlessly.  We could of course see it but now we were treated to literally minutes of banter on the subject...yawn.  Never fear cos this ere pod's ere to cheer (you)

We learn that Brazil is in the past so therefore this whole World Cup must have happened already. The Africans (all of them) can't be trusted. Mark Lawrenson briefly admits us to his book club. And how come a reserve goalkeeper is playing for Spain.  Oh and the BBC is trying to bring back Wayne's World.  How very early 90s!

enjoy and tell your enemies. this sort of stuff is bound to annoy them.

World Cup Cast 2014 #1

Posted in World Cup 2014 by slightlyoffthepoint on June 14th, 2014

Fantastic news, I'm back.

WC 2014 is on in case you haven't noticed.  It's in Brazil.  There are protests. Brazil may have rigged the results already.

ITV is first up for Brazil vs Croatia. Fabio Cannavaro is giddy so he is.  Viera may or may not be French and Lee Dixon is English and nowt else...  The reporter is half Brazilian.  And also half English but she doesn't parp on about that side of things.  The panel get stoned, Oscar gets a paper round, Clive hates long-hairs, Rickie Lambert hopes for some action and of course the return of Racism Today!

Soccerball Podcast 2014 #6

Posted in Champions League by slightlyoffthepoint on May 5th, 2014

Well it's the last of the podcasts looking at the semi-finals of what we used to call the European Cup. On such a nice day George gets confused and forgets which sport he's meant to be watching, the quality of Spanish mattresses gets the once over, we learn some Spanish thanks to the Atletico Madrid crowd, we learn the best way to get out of Stamford Bridge during a tube strike and the curtain falls on Jose: The Musical

What's the point of Sergio Ramos? I would tempt fate wouldn't I??

What else is in this bumper edition, you probably don't ask.  Well Adrian Chiles dismisses the Euro, Clive Tyldesley the Raconteur, Science Explained with Roy Keane and we sing-a-long with the Scorpions (possibly not the actual Scorpions)

Soccerball Podcast 2014 #4

Memo to self: Need snappier title for episodes.

This installment features a big shout out to 80s indie-jangle-popsters The Primitives, Roy Keane saying 'team' a lot, a commentator who desires the head of Jose Mourinho, Andy Townsend stopping and then starting and then stopping once more and the rather unwelcome return of Innuendo of the Day (Ashley Cole edition).

Enjoy (or not)

Soccerball Podcast 2014 #3

Posted in Champions League by slightlyoffthepoint on April 30th, 2014

Why so current you ask?   Eventually the evisceration of the telly coverage of R€@l Madrid v FC Bayern Munchen makes it to the interweb.  This installment features the Welsh having it easy, a distinct lack of un-surping, the savant like characteristics of Pepe, old favourite 'What's the Point of Sergio Ramos?' and new favourite (not sure about this) 'Gary Hates Goalies' But most of all there are Overlaps, Underlaps and Interlaps... Enjoy!  Complaints to slightlyoffthepoint@gmail.com

Posted in World Cup 2010 by slightlyoffthepoint on April 13th, 2014

ok here's a slightly (slightly) better effort and it's a bit longer, though not too long thankfully...

Barca v Atleti, and the BBC miss the point completely...oh and Gerry Armstrong has a new friend.

Euro 2012cast #7

In the words of Tiffany 'It Could've Been So Beautiful...' But it starred the current Trapattoni-helmed Ireland, Ireland, Repubalic of Ireland, so it wasn't so beautiful.  Still...f

In today's ridiculously bumper packed edition, we have Trap telling us all aobut his shirt, In our brand new Keane-a-oke segment you too can sing along with Robbie Keane, John Giles Football Man swears on live telly and Balotelli's Bathroom will never be forgotten.

Also we compare Engerland v Ukrainland with the Somme, we hear an exclusive track from Roy Keane's new album, and after two whole weeks we crowbar our Crap Eastern European Football Team Name gag into a podcast finally.  That's not to mention gratuitous hooker gags and stuff about that John Terry fella.
